  1. Hi Chris. Thank you for the time and love you put into this list. I’m renting a movie tonight and your list was my first stop. Sicerio it is tonight.

    1. Hey Erin,

Thank you so much for always reading and being one of the biggest reasons this site stays alive. I’m glad I could help. Sicario is a great choice. A mastery in film making

        1. I’m glad you enjoyed it Erin. The story twists and turns, but prevails greatly in the third act when all hell breaks loose.

  2. As I was reading the list I wondered, how do decide how to rank the films? Do you use something like a point scale to keep track and score for ranking based on the end tally? I definitely need to make note and start watching.

    1. My usual end of the year lists are initially based on the rankings that I give for each movie. For instance “The Revenant” received one of three 10/10’s from me this year, so automatically it is in the top three films of the year no matter what. Then I basically just compare those three films. For me, “The Revenant” and “Mad Max” were VERY close, but I went with the former because it was a marvel of masterpiece filmmaking. So much of Alejandro Innarritu’s work is done in an almost rogue way, so it’s refreshing to see what may be the future of directing. Everything is of course opinionated, so it’s only what I feel were the best and worst.
